How to choose the right massage oil?

essential massage oilMassage oil is a key ingredient in the work of a massage therapist. It helps to ensure comfortable sliding of the hands, moisturize and soften the skin without forming cracks and tears. Good massage oil helps to quickly warm up the body and accelerate the process of cell regeneration, thereby increasing skin elasticity. It should be noted right away that not all oils are suitable for massage. Therefore, sometimes massage therapists spend a lot of time until they find the right massage oil to work with.

How to choose massage oil?

Massage oils can be divided into 2 categories: cold-pressed base oils and essential oils.

Base oils are used for all types of massages, but aromatic massage oils help to “play out in fresh notes”, combining body massage with aromatherapy.

Base massage oils

Almond massage oil

Almond oil is often used to massage the face and neck. It is universal and suitable for all skin types. The main properties of this oil include tissue strengthening, giving the skin shine and softness. Almond oil is quickly absorbed and has a warming effect. But do not overuse almond oil, as it can clog pores.

Grapeseed oil for massage

Grapeseed oil deeply nourishes the skin and inhibits its aging processes. It is well suited for anti-cellulite massage and anti-wrinkle treatment. It is recommended to use this massage oil during a period of high solar activity, as it protects the skin from UV rays and regulates the work of sweat glands.

Coconut massage oilmassage Riga

One of the most versatile oils is coconut oil. This oil has a mild aroma, does not cause allergies, and is well absorbed into the skin. Coconut oil is recommended for moisturizing dry and even cracked skin. But, like almond oil, coconut oil is comedogenic and is not recommended for regular use.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil does not leave a greasy shine, but it is well absorbed. This massage oil is suitable for all skin types, but it should be noted that you cannot use it in its pure form. This is due to the fact that it has a very thick consistency, so it must be diluted with other oils. Jojoba oil has the properties of smoothing wrinkles, removes inflammation on the skin, and also nourishes and softens it, removing peeling.

Sesame massage oil

Sesame oil contains many trace elements and vitamins that help slow down the aging process of the skin, as well as give it elasticity and radiance. The sesame seed oil has a delicate pleasant aroma, which is why it is used for almost all massage procedures, including even relaxing massage and Ayurvedic treatments. It is hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin types. Also, if you are choosing anti-cellulite massage oil, then sesame oil is best.

Massage oils for different skin types

Suitable for all skin types: olive, almond oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil, mona de tahiti oil.

Suitable for dry skin: avocado oil, coconut oil, shea butter, apricot kernel oil.

Suitable for oily skin: sunflower oil, grape seed oil, hazelnut oil, and sesame oil.

Aromatic massage oils
